London 2017 womenAs the 2017 World Championship brings this year’s season almost to a close, team Ghana is so grateful to GNPC, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Authority and World’s Fastest Humans for making it possible for Ghana to be at these Championships.

We are also grateful to the host of supporters and sponsors who continue to support Ghana Athletics in diverse ways (including opening up their homes for us to live and train from), as well as to Interplast Ghana… Africanus.net... Sea & Shore Ghana Ltd…and, Inesfly Africa who have supported GAA to ensure that this year’s domestic development program continued to flourish. Thank you all for a wonderful, wonderful season. God bless you!

Highlights of Ghana’s team at the Worlds:

1. Africa’s top team, Ghana, ends up 10th in the 4x100m in their first race of the year (the girls have not been able to run together this year and got together for the first time this year just last week at the WCh), missing the finals by 2 spots.
2. The lack of practice together showed, and yet they ended up with the 5th fastest time ever-ran by a Ghanaian team behind their own NR from 2016 of 42.67s, the former NR of 43.19s from 2000 Sydney Olympics, and their own 2016 Rio time of 43.37s, and the 2006 Athens time of 43.61s…this young team has 5 of the top 7 times Ghana has ever run.
3. Ghana should be very proud of these girls as we make efforts to give them greater support earlier in the year so they can prepare better (they had virtually no preparation for this competition, and some had not competed for over 8 weeks before the world championships).
