NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Janet Amponsah led the honours winning the women’s 200m and 400m as four Ghanaian athletes got their indoor season underway at the Vanderbilt Opener on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.
Amponsah clinched first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.09. The Middle Tennessee State University senior has a personal bestg 23.40s in the 200m, also posted a new career high in the 400-meter dash recording a 54.55 time to finish second overall.
Meanwhile, the multi talented Elizabeth Dadzie recorded a first place finish in the women’s long jump event to notch a 1.58-meter distance. Dadize inked a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles to clock in at 8.41.
Another Ghanaian athlete Agnes Abu crossed the finish line in third place in a time of 2:10.47 in the women’s 800m.
Elsewhere, sprinter Ida Mensah made her debut appearance in the indoor circuit with  25.18s clocking in the 200m and 7.75s in the 60m.
