The 2016 Liquid Sports Ghana (LSG) Athlete of the year awards has received a massive sponsorship boost after Econet Media’s Kwese Free Sports, Africa’s newest multi-platform Pay TV network, today started promoting the upcoming LSG Awards to be held at the British Council on Saturday, 29th April, 2017.
The sponsorship will greatly enhance coverage of the second edition of the LSG awards which aims to honour and give recognition to deserving Ghanaian athletes.
LSG has also signed a partnership agreement with Ethiopian Airlines for the second year running to promote and organise the awards.
The awards is being organised in collaboration with the Ghana Triathlon Federation, University of Ghana, Legon Sports Directorate, GTV Sports + and TV Africa.
Four categories of awards will be given during the 2016 awards comprising best national male and female athletes of the year, best locally based female and male athletes of the year.
The major highlights for 2016 includes the women’s 4x100m relay team who broke the national record after running a sizzling 42.67s; triple jump record holder Nadia Eke won gold at the African Athletics Championships; Flings Owusu-Agyapong’s 11.26s qualification to the Olympics; national javelin record holder John Ampomah’s silver medal triumph at the African Athletics Championships and his 19th position at the Olympics with a throw of 80.39m, among others.
The stories of these athletes will be highlighted by Kwese Free Sports, a channel which aims to deliver best-in-class live sports and entertainment to Ghanaian consumers.
