As part of its efforts at honouring and recognizing individuals and organisations for their contribution to sports in Ghana in 2018, Liquid Sports Ghana is set to organise the 4th edition of the annual Liquid Sports Ghana Awards on 6th July, 2019.

The awards-the first of its kind in Ghana which focuses on athletics and para sports- are aimed at throwing the spot light on athletes who excel in representing the country both locally and internationally to inspire the younger generation.

The award will also recognise excellence in para sports, leadership in sports for their contribution to sports.
At the last edition, Liquid Sports Ghana honoured some national para sports icons, the Indian Women’s Association of Ghana and Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Director of Sports at the University of Ghana Legon for their contribution to the growth and development of sports in Ghana.

As with the first three editions of the awards, this year’s awards will recognise the national best athletes in the male and female categories. In the rising stars categories, two promising locally based athletes in the male and female categories will be honoured.

The awards is voted for by an expert panel which includes an international cast of athletics experts including renowned Ghanaian journalist Karl Tufuoh, the head of sports, Citi FM, Nathan Quao, the President of the Ghana Triathlon Federation, Bawah Fuseini, the Managing Editor of www.athletics-africa.com, Yomi Omogbeja, Carole Fuchs, Managing Editor of www.africathle.com, Yemi Olus, Senior writer at Nigeria’s Making of Champions-a Sports Media & Management Company, renowned Ghanaian athletics coaches Salamatu Musah and Chris Amankrah- who doubles at the Chairman of the Greater Accra Athletics Association.

The BBC’s Steve Vickers was part of the voting panel for the last edition of the awards in 2016. The late VOA Senior Africa Producer Mark Ouma was part of the panel of experts for the inaugural award held in 2015.
