Flings Owusu-Agyapong was the first female national athlete to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games after achieving a personal best and Olympic standard 11.30s earlier in 2016. She subsequently lowered her mark to 11.26s in a latter event.
Based in the USA and Canada, Flings is one of the most decorated Ghanaian athletes in the present national team, winning her first medal as part of the women’s 4x100m relay team that won bronze at the 17th Africa Senior Championships in Kenya.
She helped the national 4x100m relay to silver at the 18th Africa Senior Championships; bronze at the 19th Africa Senior Championships; silver at the 2015 All Africa Games and run the first leg as the 4x100m relay team won silver at the 20th Africa Senior Championships in Durban, South Africa 2016.
Flings, who was Ghana’s flag bearer at the Rio Olympics, exited the women’s 100m at round one.
She missed out on the semi-finals of the women’s 100m by 0.04s, after recording 11.43s in her 100m race at the Games.
