Rokmer Pharma Ltd, one of the leading pharmaceutical brands in Ghana, is sponsoring the 3rd edition of the Liquid Sports Ghana Awards to be held at the luxurious Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City on 9th June.

The sponsorship agreement brings together one of the biggest pharmaceutical brands in the country with one of the fastest growing sports brands in Ghana dedicated to its goal of using sports as a tool for development.

Rokmer Pharma was recently honoured at the inaugural Ghana Pharma Awards 2017 where its CEO. Mr. Richard Acheampong was crowned with the “Promising Chief Executive Officer of the Year” award.

With a motto, “The key to your health needs,” Rokmer is currently in 7 out of the 10 Regions of Ghana with a vision to offer high quality and affordable health products and services to the West African Sub-Region.

This year’s Liquid Sports Ghana Awards would highlight the sacrifices and achievements of the nation’s para sports men/women who have sought to erase perceptions about people with disabilities for over 20 years by competing and hoisting the flag of Ghana internationally in Africa and the World.

As with the two earlier editions of the awards, Ghanaian athletes who have distinguished themselves on the domestic circuit and the international stage in the previous year will be recognised and honoured at the event.

The nation recorded its highest number of qualifiers for the IAAF World Championships at London 2017, while several athletes both locally and internationally churned out some amazing life time bests in the last year.

Among several highlights in 2017, the national women’s 4x100m relay were ranked number in Africa after posting a 43.68s(SB) clocking at the IAAF World Championships at London 2017; Agnes Abu broke the national 1500m record with 4.17.75m(NR) ; Alex Amankwah erased the 23-year old national 800m record with a scintillating 1:44.80m(NR) performance while Janet Amponsah produced a life time best 22.90s(PB) in the women’s 200m: reigning African triple jump champion Nadia Eke was ranked number 1 on the continent for the second year running in 2017 after posting a national record 13.93m(NR).

As well as honouring the individual athletes, the Indian Women’s Association of Ghana and another important individual will be recognised for their contributions to the growth of Ghana sports under the “Leadership and Excellence Award” category.

The Liquid Sports Ghana Awards is the first of its kind award in Ghana dedicated to raising the profile of athletics and also projecting the underprivileged in society.

Meanwhile, with less than 2 weeks to go until the Liquid Sports Ghana Awards 2017, Liquid Sports Ghana is set to announce the short lists for the coveted Athlete of the Year and Rising Star Awards, nominees for the para sports icons awards and nominees for the Leadership and Excellence categories at the official launch of the awards at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City on Tuesday, 5th June.
