The University of Ghana won gold in the men’s 4x100m relay final at the Africa University Sports with an impressive 39.38s clocking.

Placed in lane 8, UG took charge of the race from the first 100m with a strong lead before establishing a comfortable lead after the first exchange. By the third exchange, they had already established an 8-meter gap before Isaac Botsio brought the baton home in a season’s best of 39.38s.

The quartet included Isaac Botsio, Solomon Kweku Hammond, James Dadzie and Abdul Rasheed Saminu. It will be recalled that a quartet of Distance Education students recorded 40.80s to win the UG Annual Inter Halls athletics event recently.

Interestingly, the Ghana national 4x100m relay record currently stands at 38.08s.

Meanwhile, the University for Development Studies took second place with 40.19s while the University of Johannesburg (UJ) came third with 41.55s.
