Frank Addo could only look to the heavens with delight when it was announced he had achieved a personal best of 46.58s to win the men’s 400m invitational final at the CAA Region II Championships in Cape Coast.

The feat by the University for Development Studies student is the best 400m performance by a locally based athlete this season which is fast shaping up to be one of the best of all time.

With 200 meters to go, the University of Ghana’s Daniel Otibo made his trademark move in the curve but Frank Addo held his nerve and engaged his rival in a neck-racking competition that ultimately improved the fortunes of both athletes. Otibo eventually settled for second place also with a lifetime best 46.61(PB).

Charles Nyame of the UDS came third with a personal best of 47.00s while the Ashanti region’s Baba Seidu came fourth in 47.50s.
