World javelin champion Julius Yego insists he will defend his title at the IAAF World Championships London 2017 after qualifying for the final with a throw of 83.57m in the men’s qualification.

Yego’s title is under threat from the German duo of Johannes Better (94.44m) and Thomas Rohler (93.30m) who have togther achieved the 8th best throws in the world this season.

“I have  to defend this title,” Yego said. “It is difficult  because the boys have been throwing far this year. It will be  difficult but also fun. I just need one big throw.  London is always amazing. When you have such a  crowd cheering for you anything can happen.”
