Have you ever wondered who the Greatest Ghanaian Athletes of All Time are? What will be the basis for such a compilation?

Which athletes ever won world medals for the country and what were their achievements individually, nationally and internationally?

For the first ever, Ghanaian based sports for development organisation, Liquid Sports Ghana (LSG) is compiling a list of the most accomplished Ghanaian Athletes of All Time.

Starting Monday, 13th March, LSG would publish top lists of the nation’s performances in track and field from 1900 to 2020.

The lists were put together with data drawn from athletics tracking website Tilastopaja and data from the World Athletics website.

The greats lists includes but not restricted to 100m record holder Leo Myles Mills 21-year old record of ‘9.98s, performances by the great Mike Ahey, a Commonwealth Games 1962 long jump gold medalist and 7th place finisher in the long jump at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics; the 2005 IAAF World Championships medalists Ignisious Gaisah and Margaret Simpson to mention a few.

The lists are also dominated by some of the current generation of athletes with sprint sensation Joseph Paul Amoah who holds the men’s 200m record of 20.08(NR) while Janet Amponsah similarly holds the women’s 200m record with 22.67(NR). 2016 triple jump African champion Nadia Eke features in the list with a personal best and national record 14.33m. About 27 national records are held by the current generation of athletes.

We aim to celebrate our athletes, inform, entertain and reveal some of the most amazing moments in Ghana athletics.

More to come……..
