What are your memories of the IAAF World Championships!!

Team Ghana is set to compete at the 17th edition of the IAAF World Athletics Championships(WC) which is scheduled to be held between 27 September and 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar.

Ahead of the competition, we asked reigning national 100m (9.98sNR) champion and now Ghana coach Leo Myles Mills his memories of competing at the WC.

Leo was part of the quartet that won gold at the 2003 All Africa Games, beating a high profile Nigerian team. 16 years later, Ghana repeated the dose this time at the 2019 African Games in Morocco only last month.

Below were his thoughts:

“One of my most memorable moments competing in the WC was in Seville, Spain 1999. My ultimate goal was to make finals, you know! But unfortunately I missed it, missed narrowly making the 100m finals. I was so sad. I was upset after that because I was in a great shape, excited to compete at the finals. I stumbled coming out of the blocks and it cost me. By the time I was able to mold myself back into the race it was over. It cost me big time! But I witnessed something remarkable: Michael Johnson breaking the world record in the 400m. That was fun to see.”
