The University of Ghana Legon today won its first gold medal at the ongoing African Universities Games (FASU Games) at Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.

Dominic McCarthy tossed the discus at 42.02m to clinch first place ahead of Kenyatta University’s Oscar Wanjala Simiyu, who produced 35.98m to take second place, while Boniface Kilonzo Kyalo settled for third place with 33.73m

UG, thus, becomes the first Ghanaian University to win gold in the ongoing competition reserved for tertiary institutions in Africa.
